Laurens: “My father and my uncle grew chrysanthemums all year round. I worked for them when I left school. In 1996 my father and I moved to our current site in ’s-Gravenzande. We worked here together until 2001 when I took over the company from him.
I decided to grow Zembla in 2003 and to focus on the East European market. I did this for 12 years and then switched to growing Santini and Madiba.
In 2018, the Santini and Madiba made way for Kennedy. This is a single bloom spray chrysanthemum that has large, white flowers and a green centre. The Kennedy is very suitable for painting. As the flower transports well, it is highly suitable for transport to distant destinations.
My future plans are to continue growing at this level of quality and to keep ahead of developments on the market. I am working on making the Kennedy a top product for the European market.”
